Abide with me

"Abide with me" is a great Anglican hymn written in 1847 by Henry F. Lyte. It is a comfort not only to sailors and those left at home, but to all those who - touched by the trials and difficulties common to this life - reach out to the One who has promised never to leave nor forsake His own.

The Church's One Foundation

_The Church's One Foundation_ was written in response to a serious heresy which surfaced in South Africa in the 1860's. The hymn writer Samuel Stone patterned his verse on the phrase _The holy Catholic church, the communion of saints_ found in the Apostles' Creed.
