John Hagee hates the Jewish People

3 minute read

John Hagee, Senior Pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, is said to be one of the ten most influential television preachers1. Mary Dalke on her False Teacher Friday for 26 February 2016, documents some of John Hagee’s aberrant teachings regarding the person and work of Jesus Christ and his attitude towards the Jews. Mary writes:

I must admit that many years ago, because of my deep interest in Bible prophecy, I used to listen to John Hagee...because of his strong emphasis on end time events and Bible prophecy. I had no idea what he actually taught about Jesus until years later when I came across this video! You will hear John Hagee — in his own words — say some of the following shocking things: _“The Jewish people as a whole did not reject Jesus as Messiah.” “Jesus did not come to earth to be the Messiah.” "Since Jesus refused by word and deed to claim to be the Messiah, how can the Jews be blamed for rejecting what was never offered?"_ Another totally heretical teaching that John Hagee presents...there is no need to preach salvation to the Jewish people because they already have a relationship with God, and that their salvation comes through the Old Covenant. Some of his actual words are as follows: _“I’m not trying to convert the Jewish people to the Christian faith.” “In fact, trying to convert Jews is a waste of time.”_

False Teacher Friday – Learning The Importance Of Being A Berean

Hagee got one thing right. Trying to convert a Jewish person or anyone else is a waste of time. Only the Holy Spirit working through the Word can bring saving faith. Our job is to speak the Word and be ready to give a reason for the hope which is in us (1 Peter 3.15). Salvation is the work of God. But Hagee seems to know very little of these things.

The worst Anti-Semitism

John Hagee false teaching about Jesus

John Hagee false teaching about Jesus

There is no one who hates Jewish people more than the one who refuses to tell them about salvation.

Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:10-12)

Teachers like John Hagee misread Scriptures to see two different salvations. And they’ve taught a good number of well-meaning Christians this same lie. It’s a terrible deception. There is none other name under heaven whereby we must be saved.

John Hagee hates the Jewish people because he refuses to evangelise them. But it’s even worse than this. Hagee teaches everyone that Jews do not need to be saved.

Jewish people need the Lord Jesus Christ

A Jewish person who dies today without faith in Christ has only suffering without end in store. The Torah is what will condemn them, not save them as that wolf John Hagee is teaching.

How many Jewish people have you known personally who have died without believing in Christ? Their coming judgement and eternal future in hell is horrifying to contemplate. It should keep all of us up nights thinking about it.

When I learn of people like this John Hagee – I have to remind myself:

For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God. (James 1:20)

God forgive us for holding this light in a covered basket as people all around us die in darkness.

What if no one had told Keith Green about true salvation through Jesus Christ? What if nobody had told you?

I have several articles which point to the false teachings of Hagee, but this one from Mary is a must-read for any Hagee adherent. I dont know how I missed this one, since I follow Marys blog, but it will get additional dissemination with my next “Random…” post. Thanks for the heads-up!

Sounds good, Glenn. People really dont realize just how “off” these entertainment preachers are.

That whole “Four Blood Moon” fiasco didnt clue the world in on John Hagee? I just stumbled across an article on John Hagee by Prof Johan Malan who reiterated Hagees statements on Israel, then went on to talk about more misconceptions Hagee is spreading about Jesus: Another concern about John Hagee is his promotion of the prosperity gospel. He regards poverty as a curse and says that the Lord Jesus has delivered us from poverty on the cross and gave us the riches of Abraham. He shamelessly twists the Gospel account to depict Jesus in earthly terms as a rich man. He says: “Jesus was not poor… Jesus had a nice house! John 1:38-39 says that Jesus turned to those that were following Him and said, Come with Me. And they said, Where dwellest Thou? He said, Come and see. And Jesus took that whole crowd home with Him to stay in His house. That meant it was a big house. Jesus wore fine clothes. John 19:23 says that He had a seamless robe. Roman soldiers gambled for it at the foot of the cross. It was a designer original. It was valuable enough for them to want it… Poverty is caused by sin and disobeying the Word of God… Poverty is a curse.” To me he sounds like a Joel Osteen who actually opened the bible… once.

“Blood moon” was Hagee? I had wondered where that craziness had come from. Thank you for the excerpt from the article. It shows even fuller the true nature of the (false) gospel this man is selling.

I am stunned; I had no idea Hagee talks like this. Im not a follower of his at all, but I thought he spoke the Truth, at least. “In fact, trying to convert Jews is a waste of time.” Are you sure he said THAT? Has he even read the Bible at ALL? This is seriously BAD. In my experience of pastors, its only love for the Jews which permeates their teachings on any subject related to the Messiah or Israel…

geeez2014, I can confirm not that exact quote, but I can confirm Hagee has expressed that attitude in things Ive read, when continually states that Jews dont need the gospel because they are already Gods chosen people under a different covenant.

Hi Z and Glenn, Here is the short Hagee video, from Marys post cited above:

And here is a quote of Hagee from the Houston Chronicle (edit 2016-05-18 no longer available at the Houston Chronicle Website. Original Title “san-antonio-fundamentalist-battles-anti-semitism.html” ) “Im not trying to convert the Jewish people to the Christian faith,” he said. “There is nothing in the `night to honor Israel that does that.” In fact, trying to convert Jews is a “waste of time,” he said. “The Jewish person who has his roots in Judaism is not going to convert to Christianity. There is no form of Christian evangelism that has failed so miserably as evangelizing the Jewish people. They (already) have a faith structure.” Everyone else, whether Buddhist or Bahai, needs to believe in Jesus, he says. But not Jews. Jews already have a covenant with God that has never been replaced by Christianity, he says. Houston Chronicle -Hagee, Houston Chronicle, cited here. Alec

Add to this the fact the Jews have added man-made doctrine to Gods Word in the OT, and there is another reason they dont have the truth and need to be saved. Thank you for sharing Keith Green. God bless you. Amen.
