Cultural appropriation and the new educational milieu

less than 1 minute read

There’s so much to think about in this 46 second unscripted clip. It was taken only three days ago on March 28, 2016 at San Francisco State University. Watch the clip, read Jim’s post (link below), then ponder the cultural and political shift which has already been completed.

SlimJim’s assessment: Dreadlocks, Discrimination and the Dreadful Defense that it’s Cultural Appropriation?

Bizarre clip but something about the tone of the whole encounter leads me to believe it was staged. Cant say why. Myself, Ive about had it with social justice warriors since they recently invaded the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Its a great story, The museum organized a program around the return of Monets La Japonaise after a loan to the Kyoto museum of art and some restoration work. To celebrate the re-hanging of a foundation work in the museums collection patrons were invited to try on a kimono similar to the one in the painting and supplied to the museum by the Japanese consulate which cosponsored the promotion. Several local Japanese school teachers brought their class on a field trip. The whole thing was a hit until the SJWs showed up. At that point a handful (7 max) of folks showed up protesting cultural appropriation (which, ironically, the painting may be commenting on) and handing a list of demands to the museum. I though it was odd that not a single protestor was Japanese so the issue of Chinese/Japanese appropriation was off the table. I guess all Asians have the same culture. So they make the usual demands, an apology and a voice in curating the museums Asian collection (the finest in America). The museum stopped the promotion early and hosted a panel discussion with the dweebs. For myself, I can state that everyone, left and right, is losing patience with these jerks. I do believe this movement is about to fizzle out because it is taking the oxygen away from discussions of real issues. But I do feel this bizarre incident at SFSU was staged. Im also curious if her friend is British. If not, how does he come off wearing a trench coat?

Hi Ducky, Yes, this could be staged. Its hard to tell these days what is and is not real. Excellent example of the underlying attitude. Its ideological warfare pure and simple. Too bad Americans couldnt care less about Twentieth-Century Chinese and Russian history. Thanks for your comments, Ducky. Alec

Yes, the battle is in the classroom, and the battle has been lost. At least, that is the way I feel after teaching in 6th grade for the past year. If we think the millennials are a problem, the next generation is going to be worse.

The social engineering has been underway for more than 100 years. It was intended to take 5 generations. All this has been foretold to us by our Lord. Remembering that is our strength and our hope.

Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death. And ye shall be hated of all men for my names sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. (Mark 13:12-13)

You are his witness in the front lines, Timothy. Who knows how your Christian example will be used? All we need do is trust in him. But of course you know this already. Alec

It is nonsense. But whether this was staged or not, the whineries nationwide are churning out hundreds of thousands of indoctrinated robots who will soon be making civic and state laws on matters of feelings. I actually heard what sounded like a sensible young man explain how maybe he could be wrong on something since he was a white privileged male. And his name wasnt Rockefeller. Sad.
