The Church’s One Foundation

less than 1 minute read

The Church’s One Foundation was written in response to a serious heresy which surfaced in South Africa in the 1860’s. The hymn writer Samuel Stone patterned his verse on the phrase The holy Catholic church, the communion of saints found in the Apostles’ Creed.

Be strengthened today in the knowledge that God Himself still chooses people from every nation.

This version is sung by St.Andrew’s Church, Egmore, Chennai, Tamil Nadu , India.

Thank you brother Alec, for at least restoring the audio of this beautiful hymn. Before it was taken down, it was impressive to see the witness exhibited through the video performance. God bless.

Thank-you so much as Dr Stone answered heresy. One faith, one Baptism one Holy communion with the Confirmed Communion of Saints. One of my favorites in our Lutheran hymnal.
